Terms of Service
Last updated on 9 October 2026. These terms explain what the service is, how you can use it, and the limits of our responsibility.
See also the privacy notice, editorial and commercial policy, and the methodology page.
1. Who these terms are with
These terms apply between you and the operator of IsMyPayRight.co.uk ("IsMyPayRight", "we", "us"). They cover the website, the take-home calculator, the payslip checker, the pre-rendered salary pages, the public API, and any paid plans that are made available through the site.
For questions about these terms, contact hello@ismypayright.co.uk.
2. What the service is
IsMyPayRight is a UK PAYE calculation product. It models income tax, National Insurance, student-loan deductions, marriage allowance, pension contributions, and common salary-sacrifice scenarios using HMRC-based rules for the selected tax year.
These terms also cover calculations delivered through the IsMyPayRight plugin. You may use and discuss those results in the connected AI service. The plugin accepts calculation figures, not payslip files or account credentials, and does not access HMRC or employer accounts or change payroll. The AI service has its own terms and may interpret results; the assumptions and limitations returned by our tools still apply.
The payslip checker compares values you enter against an HMRC-based estimate and flags likely issues. The calculator and checker are designed to help you understand your pay, not to reproduce your employer’s payroll exactly.
3. What the service is not
IsMyPayRight is not regulated financial advice. We are not authorised or regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority and we do not provide personal recommendations about investments, pensions, mortgages, or any other regulated activity. If you need advice about your own circumstances, speak to a suitably qualified adviser or use MoneyHelper (moneyhelper.org.uk).
IsMyPayRight is not payroll software, is not a substitute for an employer-issued payslip, and is not a formal payroll audit. It is also not a tax return service and does not file anything with HMRC on your behalf.
4. Accuracy and estimates
We work hard to keep calculations aligned with HMRC published rates and examples for each supported tax year. Even so, outputs are estimates. Real payroll outcomes can differ because of employer-specific setups, cumulative versus non-cumulative tax treatment, mid-period changes, court-ordered deductions, provider-specific salary-sacrifice rules, or in-flight payroll corrections.
If an important financial decision depends on a calculated result, verify it against your employer payroll, payslip, P60, or your HMRC account before acting on it. More detail on what is modelled sits on the methodology page.
5. Permitted use
You may use the public website for personal or business research. You must not scrape, mirror, or systematically copy large parts of the site to rebuild a competing calculator. You must not attempt to bypass rate limits, probe for vulnerabilities without permission, or use the service to send unlawful, misleading, or abusive content.
You must not use the service to process personal data about other people in a way that would breach UK data-protection law. Only enter figures you are entitled to use.
6. The public API and paid plans
The public API is subject to access controls, endpoint limits and fair use. Available endpoints are described in the API documentation. Any separately agreed access or commercial terms apply to that arrangement.
If paid access is offered, its pricing, billing and permitted use will be stated in the applicable agreement. API keys are personal to your organisation; do not share them externally and rotate them promptly if they are exposed.
We may suspend or terminate access to the API for a material breach of these terms, for abusive or unlawful use, or for repeated and significant overuse of the free tier. We will try to contact the API key owner before suspension except where immediate action is needed to protect the service.
7. Third-party content and links
Guides and salary pages link to HMRC, GOV.UK, the Office for National Statistics, and other third-party sources. Those sites have their own terms and we are not responsible for their content. Advertising and affiliate relationships, where they exist, are governed by the editorial and commercial policy.
8. Intellectual property
The site, its content, its calculations, its copy, and its code are owned by IsMyPayRight or licensed to us. You may quote short extracts with attribution for non-commercial use. You may not reuse substantial sections of the site, the full text of salary pages, or the calculator output format as a standalone product without a written licence.
Names, logos, and trade marks on the site remain the property of their respective owners. References to HMRC, GOV.UK, and other UK government bodies do not imply endorsement.
9. No warranties
The service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent permitted by law, we exclude all implied warranties including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that defects will be corrected within any specific timeframe.
10. Limitation of liability
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot be excluded or limited by law. Nothing in these terms limits your rights as a consumer that cannot be excluded under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 or other mandatory UK consumer law.
Subject to the paragraph above, our total aggregate liability for all claims arising out of or in connection with the service in any twelve-month period is limited to the greater of (a) £100 or (b) the fees you actually paid to us for the service in that twelve-month period.
We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, loss of profit, loss of revenue, loss of goodwill, or loss of data, except where such loss cannot be excluded by law. The service is not designed to be relied on as the sole basis for material financial decisions and we are not liable for decisions taken on that basis.
11. Indemnity
If you are using a paid API plan for a commercial product, you agree to indemnify us against reasonable third-party claims that arise directly from your use of the API in breach of these terms, other than claims that relate to defects in our calculation logic.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms to reflect changes to the product, to the commercial model, or to applicable law. Material changes will be flagged on the status page. Continued use of the service after an update means you accept the updated terms.
13. Governing law and jurisdiction
These terms and any dispute arising out of them are governed by the laws of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction, except that if you are a consumer resident in Scotland or Northern Ireland you may bring proceedings in the courts of the jurisdiction in which you are resident.
14. Contact
